Who Will Tell Your Story?
There truly are no words that capture the full essence of Hamilton from staging, to choreography, to acting, to the music. I sat in awe of how each part played an important role in the production. As you’ve heard me say many times, music is a big part of my life and Hamilton’s music is forever etched into my heart. This time around, the song that stays with me is “Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story.” It’s the last act and it comes far too soon as you simply don’t want the story to end.
The song is about the legacy of Hamilton and it got me thinking about who will tell my story, and who will tell your story? We are given 24 hours a day to live and often each day can seem like the next. And yet, EACH day is a chance to fully live our story with love, kindness, and compassion. When you step into the power of your story, of your life, of your day, you will begin to live it as part of a remarkable tapestry of your life. Live each day as it being part of your legacy rather than it being a ‘normal’ day. Live it as you would want to hear others talk about it in years to come.
Moving forward, I invite you to live your story by:
Creating a soundtrack of songs that are your legacy songs. I chose 5: Brave, Sara Bareilles, Sailing, Rod Stewart, Once A Day, Michael Franti, Man in the Mirror, Michael Jackson, and I Was Here, Beyonce. Allow your chosen songs to remind you that life is worthy of your greatness.
LOVING all and choosing who to participate with. Unconditional LOVE is easy when you release the need to participate. LOVE everyone for who they are and where they are on their journey, and make choices on who you will participate with in your life. The saying goes that people are in your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. I personally believe people are in my life for a lifetime, the reason and season people are people I just don’t participate with, yet still LOVE. Sometimes you have to LOVE yourself more to let go of those who no longer enhance your life.
Living your legacy. How do you want to be remembered? Not only for when you leave this earth, but when you leave a room? Be the person that brings a smile to your face. Be the person that you wish you could see more often, spend more time with. Live your legacy today.
Knowing it’s okay where your story is today. Even on my darkest days in my story, whether it’s the physical loss of a LOVED one, realizing a relationship needed to end, a job, or whatever challenge I face, I live in appreciation. Some days that appreciation requires me to go back to the very basics of things we often take for granted… breathing on my own, having a warm bed to sleep in. Most often, it’s appreciating anything and everything and saying THANK YOU a lot. So if you find your story is sorrowful right now, that too is okay, reach for a better feeling thought.
Mostly, my wish for you is to fully live life rather than letting it live you. Breathe deep into the beauty of each day. Send LOVE to everyone and an extra dose of LOVE to those who are suffering. Get involved and volunteer to lift up others as when you do that, you naturally lift up yourself. Let those that matter to you know that they matter to you. Live your story with LOVE, kindness, and compassion and your legacy will be worthy of being told for centuries to come.
Until next time, take your shot on living LOVE.
I will live my story with LOVE, kindness, and compassion.

“The challenge of life, I have found, is to build a resume that doesn’t simply tell a story about what you want to be, but it’s a story about who you want to be.” ~ Oprah
