self portrait

Can you believe what THEY did? You HAVE to do this. This is BAD for you. EVERYONE needs to do this.

Have you heard any of those statements? Or perhaps you’ve thought or said them yourself. In our exuberance and in our fear we often tend to tell people what to think, say, and do rather than invite them to look at it from a new perspective. I have certainly been there, done that.   We paint people and situations with such a large brushstroke forgetting the individuality of each person and each experience. Rather than painting with a large brushstroke, I encourage you to use a fine tip brush and speak from YOUR experience. I love _____. I think _____ is bad (although I’d encourage you to focus on good). Share from your experience, live from your own self portrait rather than what society is saying or not saying you should be.

Moving forward, I invite you to be your own self expression by: Emulating what it is you want in your life and the world. If you want peace, be peace. If you want LOVE, be LOVING. Be that which you want to see. Speaking from your own experience rather than telling others how they should be.

Example: Doing _____ really has changed my life, check it out if you like.

Speaking from what you want rather than focusing on what you don’t want.

Example: Speak about the benefits of being active rather than focusing on inactivity. Being gentle with yourself and others along this amazing journey of life.

Mostly, my wish is for you to paint an amazing picture of what living your best life looks like and supporting others in their visions. It’s our individuality that brings about a pallet of beauty in people and experiences. Until next time, live outside yourself and societal imposed beliefs and SHINE!

“It takes a long time for a man to look like his portrait.”~ James Whistler “The true portrait of a man is a fusion of what he thinks he is, what others think he is, what he really is and what he tries to be.” ~ Dore Schary
