Is It Too Good To Be True?
We dream of and plan for living our best life, yet when we are living it or we are close to living it, do we stay in that space of excitement, happiness, and gratitude? Or do we slip into a feeling of ‘this is just too good to be true” and begin looking for all the possibilities that this could go wrong and not last. We are in a new job and everything is going great, yet due to our past experiences of jobs that might have been too much work, not enough pay, and not appreciated, you may find yourself expecting this job to take a turn for the worse. You are in a new relationship and he or she is what you’ve been dreaming about and asking for, yet past relationships ended where you got hurt and you start looking for similar traits.
When fear of your past trickles in to your present, and it probably will, be aware that those feelings have nothing to do with your today. Those feelings are about old experiences with past bosses, co-workers, colleagues, and lovers. Rather than thinking to yourself “what if he is rude like my old boss” or “what if he doesn’t care about me like my last boyfriend/girlfriend,” start thinking “what if this is exactly what I’ve been asking for and I deserve to be this happy?” Replace fear with interest, with kindness, and with compassion for yourself. Is it too good to be true? Only if you feel you don’t deserve it.
Moving forward, I invite you to know it’s true by:
Believing you deserve to live your best life filled with great relationships, amazing experiences, and work that you LOVE.
Being gentle with yourself when past hurts come up as this goodness you are now experiencing allows you the opportunity to heal old hurts. This new experience isn’t hurting you, it’s often just bringing up past hurtful memories.
Saying “THIS OR SOMETHING GREATER FOR THE HIGHEST GOOD OF ALL INVOLVED,” as if it is to good to be true, then better is coming. Holding intention for the highest good for ALL involved allows space for everyone involved to say “I deserve this amazing life.”
Mostly, my wish for you this week is to be aware of your feelings and ask yourself if it’s a current feeling or a rehashed feeling through gentle observation and lots of compassion for yourself. Allow yourself to be excited about living your best life and be grateful for each experience that brings you closer to it.
Until next time, I know it to be true and I will hold that space for you until you do too.
Life is better and better each day beyond my wildest dreams!
