Do You Have Tunnel Vision?
Updated: Aug 23, 2019
Do you have a vision for your life? Do you visualize what you want to do career-wise, where you want to live and who you want to share your life with? Some people have their lives fully mapped out and they are in the driver’s seat of their lives while others are going through life on autopilot and life is happening to them.
Whether you are just now creating a life vision, or you are enhancing the one you’ve already started, allow for your vision to unfold in bigger and more loving ways than you could imagine from where you stand today.
We can often get tunnel vision in our thinking because it must be the way we’ve envisioned it to be thus miss seeing possibly better and easier opportunities for ourselves. I must work at that company. I must live in that neighborhood. I must share my life with that particular person.
Now with that said, having a clear vision of living our ultimate dream with fulfilling work, a dream home, good health and a loving partner to share life with is fantastic. I just ask that you remain open for it showing up in ways that you can’t imagine from the space you are in today.
Often, our clear vision can spark our biggest fears. For instance, we can find ourselves obsessing about when it is going to happen or how is it going to happen. If one of our “have to” scenarios isn’t working out, we can take it as failure rather than an opportunity to try a new, perhaps easier path.
Living the ultimate dream life of deeper love, laughter, health, abundance and happiness is there for you and will often come much quicker when you release control of the “how” and allow bigger, easier and more fulfilling opportunities to unfold. And who knows, it might show up exactly how you envisioned it, but you will feel better when you release control.
Moving forward, I invite you to open up to living your ultimate dream life by getting into the feeling place of:
Meaningful work: What does fulfilling work feel like to you? Focus on the feeling rather than the job title. Visualize being in a working environment of collaboration, creativity, cohesiveness or however you want to feel while you are working. By all means, if you have a specific company in mind, see yourself working there while staying open to the idea of “this or something greater.”
Cozy home: How do you want to feel at home? Visualize how you want to feel at home, such as cozy, warm, safe, etc. If you have your eyes set on a particular home, neighborhood, city, etc., use that vision as your springboard and add the phrase “this or something greater” at the end of your visualization.
Loving romantic partner: How do you want to feel with your mate? Visualize the feeling-tones of the relationship you desire rather than the list of what he/she should be. If you have a particular person in mind, see that person emulating those feelings you are looking for while still being open to – this or someone greater.
Mostly, my wish for you this week is to see your life as loving, kind, caring, compassionate, healthy, abundant and over-the-top amazing as you deserve to have fulfilling work, a home surrounded in beauty and someone special to share it with.
Until next time, make sure to turn your lights on in the tunnel as your future is very, very bright.
I focus on seeing the good in myself and others.
