Are you about to give up?

Are you about ready to give up? Maybe it’s a personal situation you find yourself in that you feel you are failing at. Maybe it’s a relationship that you can’t seem to make better. Maybe it’s something going on at the national or global level that you don’t see a happy ending to and you are ready to give up.

I want you to know that whatever you are going through right now that has you hurting, you are seen, you are heard, and you matter. I want you to know that many others have felt what you are feeling in the past or even right now, you are not alone in these feelings. I want you to remember that you are worth giving life your all… however that looks to you.

Today is not the date to give up. It might be the day to take a break and rest from whatever challenge you find yourself in. It might be the day to forget about your challenges and go do something fun and light to step away from the heaviness for just a moment. It might be the day to take a few steps back and look at the challenge from a new perspective. But, it is not the day to give up. Your voice matters in the world. You matter in the world.

Moving forward, I invite you to keep moving forward by:

Allowing your feeling.  Feelings of anger, frustration, sadness or unworthiness are normal feelings to have during hardship. Feel them, sit with them, thank them for moving through you and not settling into you. On YOUR time frame, begin to reach for a better feeling thought. One small step at a time.

Connecting to your higher source. Whatever that is to you, a particular religion, a philosophy, or a belief system that leads with LOVE will help you through any challenge.

Finding your tribe. Seek out the helpers in the world who have been where you find yourself and have come out on the other side of it. Find people who can stand strong for you when you feel your knees buckle. Find those who see you for the amazing person you are, not the person who you feel is not worthy of LOVE.

Taking a break or redirect your attention. Sometimes when we are in the heat of the challenge, we are so engulfed in it that we cannot even see a way out of it. So, take a break. Focus on another aspect of your life that is working the way you want it to.

Remembering how you moved through past struggles. We’ve all gone through experiences in our lives that have been gut wrenching and in the moment of it, we didn’t see a way out. And yet, whether it was days, weeks, months, or years, we found our way through it and it is part of who we are now. Look back and how you have not only survived past hardships, but you have thrived once again. One of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes states it perfectly: “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”

Seeking help. Finding your tribe is a great resource to help remind you of your truth. However, there are times when the challenge is too big and professional assistance is needed. Seek it. Whether it be a hotline, a counselor, or a treatment center, you are worthy turning over every stone to have inner peace.

Mostly, my wish for you is to know that even in your darkest moments, there will be light again. It may be a different light if you have lost a dear loved one, but light will avail itself once again and the pain will subside, change form, and lessen.
